  1. One day Tim had a problem at work, so he went for a walk… a very long walk. He walked down the stairs, out of the building, across the road, through the park, over the bridge, along the river, past a statue, up some steps, then he got into a taxi, which drove him from the river to the airport and nobody ever saw him again!!!

  3. I’m crazy about fiction, both russian and foreign. As far as foreign fiction , It’s definitely Cecilia Ahern and her book “Stigma” , fiction mixed with the love story. It’s very exciting. As for russian fiction, my favorite author is Alexander Belyayev. And his great books «Professor Dowell’s head» , “Aquaman”, fascinating plot with extraordinary characters.

  4. After watching this video, I discovered a lot of new things. I didn't think twice that learning languages help not only broaden our horizons regarding languages, but also better understand people's thinking and respect their culture.
As for books, I used to read books by American writers, but only with translating, and I didn't like these books, they were incomprehensible. It became clear that the reason for this was an incorrect and inaccurate translation. I now have an even greater interest in learning different languages.
Thank you for such useful information.

  6. I completely agree with this man's belief. in fact, it is the original of the work that gives us the opportunity to feel the depth of this work, its picture with picturesque colors. To understand people, you need to be able to think like them. it means thinking in their language. there would indeed be fewer conflicts in the world , and human horizons would be greatly expanded

When translating poetry from one language to another, it is difficult to understand the author's meaning. You need to know the original language to feel the depth of the poem you are reading. The fact is that each language has a unique grammatical structure. Poetic language is even more expressive, because the combination of vowels and consonants creates a certain rhythm, but when you switch to another language, all this is lost.
You need to read poetry in the original language to feel it.

  8. I agree with the opinion of the author. In fact, it is the original that allows us to feel the whole depth of the work, since each language has its own unique grammatical structure. There are many works of foreign writers that I would very much like to read in the original, but due to insufficient knowledge of the language I have to read the Russian translation, which does not always convey the meaning of the author's words. Poetic language is even more expressive, because the combination of vowels and consonants creates a certain rhythm that can only be felt when reading in the original language.

A friend of mine lives in London, but she was born in Russia. She said she had read many different books with Russian translations, but when she found their original, she realized that it was as if she had read 2 different books, although the plot was the same, but the pitch or even the syllable was completely different. Many interesting, veiled sentences in translation did not Express that depth at all. So now she reads only the originals, because she understands that this is the only way to truly understand what the author wanted to convey.

  10. It`s very interesting video that I watched in one breath. I really love foreign writers and their works, unfortunately due to insufficient knowledge of the language I can’t read the original, I have to read the Russian translation, which, as was said in the video, cannot convey the meaning that the author wanted to convey to us. I really like the work of Harry Potter, but its good translation is very difficult to find. I believe that this is another reason for learning languages, in my case it is English. This is an unforgettable experience when you read in the original and rethink everything.

  11. I really like JK Rowling's "Harry Potter" work.I am Ready to read and watch this masterpiece again and again. I am currently reading and watching in Russian, but I hope that this will change soon. As the author of the video said, it is the original that allows us to feel the full depth of the work.

I can talk a lot about this .... It is very difficult to determine which of all the books you read is your favorite and which writer you like the most. Probably my favorite writer is Alexander Dumas and his book Two Dianes. I read this about four years ago. This work is really very interesting. With each, it probably happens that when they read some interesting book, they cannot break away from it. The same thing happened with this book.
This is basically a historical novel, almost all of which takes place in the royal court of France in the mid-sixteenth century.
Another favorite book is Leo Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace,” such works as “There Was War Tomorrow,” “Dawns Here Are Quiet,” and many others. I don’t even remember the names of some.

  13. It is not bad that we are given the opportunity to read the translation, but even despite all the efforts of the translator, he will not be able to preserve all the language style and features. In the end, it will be something else. It is especially difficult to translate poems. After all, you can not fully translate what the author wanted to say, we will only get a literal translation. Therefore, if you want to fully enjoy the works of authors, you need to read them in the original.

If you like to read, then every book you read to the end will be your favorite ... This is my opinion. Indeed, when I read a book, I am completely immersed in it. And it’s very difficult to choose the most favorite of all the books. When you see somewhere the question “what is your favorite book?”, Then you recall all the books you have ever read, and simply cannot choose one. This is my eternal problem. After the exams, I want to read the book “Killing the Commander,” written by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami.

  15. Jack London. I love his works for their incredible brightness and saturation. Always unpredictable, interesting plot, between the lines of which is hidden a great philosophy. He could write about everything, on all subjects. Jack is a man who has seen real life. By the way, "Martin Eden" is a favorite work. This story is a must-read for everyone.
